Martyr Ayatollah Morteza Motahhari Award 2011 by Iran Culture House New Delhi

On the occasion of the death Anniversary of Martyr Ayatollah Morteza Motahhari, four Indian scholars were honored by “4th Shaheed Motahhari Award”, on Monday evening in New Delhi.

Hoj Maulana Fitrat Sahab, a shia religious scholar from Pune, Maulana Prof Farman Hussain, another shia religious scholar from Aligarh, Dr. Khusro Qasim, Academician of Aligarh Muslim University,Aligarh,India and Maulana Mohd Rafeeq Qasmi from Delhi, bagged the prestigious award, presented jointly by the eminent personalities, at a glittering ceremony, organized by Iran Culture House in New Delhi, yesterday evening.
 Present on the occasion were representative of Velayat-e Faqih in India, Hoj. Mehdi Mahdavi Pour, Dy Director Int’l Cultural Relations, Hoj Mehdi Emanipour, Iran Ambassador to India, Syed Mehdi Nabizadeh, Cultural Counsellor, Dr. Karim Najafi, Vice President of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), Dr. Kalbe Sadiq and Director Iran Culture House, Ali Deghai.
Beside the eminent scholars, students and distinguished guests, also witnessed the award ceremony.
Earlier, the messages of Dr. Mohd Baqer Khurramshaw, Director Int’l Cultural Relations, was read by Dr. Karim Najafi.
Expressing their gratitude over the “4th Shaheed Motahhari Award” bestowed upon Indian scholars in recognition of sacrilege works on Islamic studies, they in one voice said that this award in Motahhari’s name will encourage younger scholars to continue this tradition and help enlighten Islamic values which will be beneficial for the humanity around the globe.
They stressed the need to continue the genuine and profound movement of Martyr Motahhari, which is of great assistance to intellectuals because of its scholarly critique of foreign ideas.
They also extended the greetings to the awardees and the organizers.
Ayatollah Morteza Motahari, born in 1920 in Iran, was one of the most versatile Islamic scholars and prolific writers of recent times, deeply rooted in traditional learning and enamoured of its exponents. He was an Islamic thinker who had fully absorbed a rigorous philosophical training. Much of his work has been published in and outside Iran.

Special Award from Ali Society :Ali Day 2011,AMU,Aligarh


Addressing the Ali Day Programme last evening organized by Ali Society, Aligarh Muslim University, Maulana Athar Abbas of Kolkata said that Prophet of Islam, Hazrat Mohammad (SAW) called Hazrat Ali as the 'Door to Education' and taking the lead from this, Sir Syed selected Aligarh for the centre of his educational movement. Maulana Abbas delivered a highly informative lecture on the life and teachings of Hazrat Ali, the fourth Caliphate of Islam in a highly spiritual manner. He said that it was the religious duty of all Muslims of India to arm themselves with education as this was the only way to facilitate development of self and the country.

Mufti Maulana Arshad Farooqui, Deoband focusing on the relevance of teachings of Hazrat Ali observed that Islam did not make any distinction between the religious and worldly life. He said that Hazrat Ali was a great advocate of justice and rightfulness and always stood for the oppressed and exploited. Maulana Farooqui urged the people to remain on the path of righteousness and come forward to help the oppressed as it would help make the society an abode of peace and universal brotherhood. He narrated several incidents of bravery, wisdom, courage, faith, dedication and morality from the life of Hazrat Ali to inspire the present generations.

Presiding over the function, the officiating Vice Chancellor, Prof. Javed Akhtar said that Hazrat Ali worked for the establishment of a peaceful and just society and urged the students and teachers to adopt the teachings of Hazrat to contribute in making the society peaceful, tolerant and compassionate. He called on the people to establish and promote fraternal relations with all their non-Muslim brethren.
MLC Mr. Vivek Bansal said that the disciples of Hazrat Ali were not limited to Muslims only but they surpassed the religious and communal boundaries. He said that India needs to work on the teachings of Hazrat to make its social and political system humane and justice loving.
MLA, Mr. Zamirullah said that the life and teachings of Hazrat Ali was a great source of strength and inspiration for him and he always drew solace in his name.
On this occasion, poetic tributes were also presented to Hazrat Ali by several poets. The event was hosted by  Askari Hasan Zaidi.
A special award was given to Associate Professor, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Dr. Khusro Qasim Sahab for his exemplary services to Islam by publishing several scholarly books and research papers.
SDM Atrauli, Mr. Masoom Ali Sarwar and Hony. Treasurer, Mr. Lateef Kazmi gave away cash prizes and certificates to the winners of various literary and cultural events including essay writing, article writing and speech competitions organized by the Ali Society. Society Member, Ali Raza presented the annual report of Ali Society.

Prof Ali Mohammad Naqvi, President, Ali Society and Dean, Faculty of Theology concluded the programme by proposing the vote of thank.
